400kV Switchyards :

400kV switchyards are generally connected in one and half breaker scheme or two main and one transfer bus scheme. 400KV voltage level is mainly used at National grid level or at Power evacuation switchyard of Mega Power Plants. Entire control and protection of individual bay equipment is carried out from Field Kiosk mounted Bay control units. These bay control units stay connected with Substation Automation System (SAS/SCADA) in control room for remote control of the switchyard. The design is carried out as per IE Rules/CBIP/IS/IEEE/IEC standards and Customer's technical specifications.

220kV Switchyards :

220kV switchyards are generally connected in two main and one transfer bus scheme. 220KV voltage level is either used at National grid level or at Power evacuation switchyard of Mega Power Plants or at main power receiving point of large industries. Entire control and protection of individual bay equipment is either carried out from Field Kiosk mounted Bay control units or directly from Control panels mounted in Control building. These bay control units stay connected with Substation Automation System (SAS/SCADA) in control room for remote control of the switchyard. Communication with remote substation can be through PLCC or OPGW.

132kV Switchyards :

132kV switchyards are generally connected either in one main and one transfer or in double bus scheme. Using of single bus scheme is also used in some of the utilities and industries. 132KV voltage level is either used at grid substation level or at main power receiving point of large industries. Entire control and protection of individual bay equipment is carried out directly from Control panels mounted in Control building. These Control panels stay connected with Substation Automation System (SAS/SCADA) in control room for remote control of the switchyard. Communication of these substations with remote control center is through OPGW or PLCC systems.

33kV Switchyards :

33kV switchyards are generally connected either in one main and one transfer or in single bus scheme. 33KV voltage level is either used at grid substation level or at main power receiving point of misc. industrial Plants. Entire control and protection of individual bay equipment is carried out directly from Control panels mounted in Control building. Design of these substation are carried out as per norms of CBIP or RE standards or other national/international standards as specified by Purchaser.

Control Building of a Switchyard :

Control building of a switchyard houses the Control and Relay panels, Protection equipment, Communication equipment like PLCC or fiber optic panels, SAS/SCADA HMI, AC & DC auxiliary equipment like ACDB, battery, charger, DCDB, UPS, RTCC panels etc. Engineer's offices, Administrative office, store, conference room, maintenance room, pantry of a substation are also accommodated in the same building.

Substation Automation System :

Substation Automation System (SAS) controls and monitors all substation equipment either from locally mounted computers or from remote computer through SCADA (supervisory control & data acquisition) software. The SCADA can communicate with remote control center through PLCC or OPGW. It generates alarm whenever an abnormal condition is developed in the system due to fault. The SCADA system mainly comprises of Bay control units, RTU, Ethernet switches, Data communication networks, Server, Printers and connectivity with fiber optic panel or PLCC for remote communication.

System Study by ETAP Software :

Various electrical system studies are required before finalization of Single line diagram of various substations, power plants and industrial power distribution systems. These studies include Load Flow study, short circuit, earth fault, transformer sizing, motor starting study to decide various equipment sizes and ratings. These can be done through different softwares available in the market.
