USA - Design and Engineering of 345/34.5/13.8kV, 3x180MVA, 9x90MVA GIS substation for Data Center at Indiana, USA
Scope of Work :
The scope of work shall include basic and detailed design and engineering services for electrical, civil, structural, I&C and mechanical works of the 345/34.5kV, 3 x 180MVA and 345/13.8kV, 9 x 90MVA GIS substation including procurement support (Technical specs, Bid evaluation and vendor drawing review), shop drawings and IFCs for the following works of the Substation :
- 345 KV GIS Housed in a Structural PEB.- 3 x 180MVA Power Transformers with RTCC, Nitrogen injection fire protection system (NIFPS) and online gas analyser.
- 9 x 90MVA Power Transformers with RTCC, Nitrogen injection fire protection system (NIFPS) and online gas analyser.
- 34.5kV GIS mounted in E-House.
- 13.8kV GIS mounted in E-House.
- 2 x 34.5/400V Station service Transformers (Hermitically sealed type).
- 380V AC DBs, 125V DC and 48V DC DBs and downstream power supply to various auxiliaries and Lighting / small power.
- 125V Battery and Battery charger for 345kV system.
- 125V Battery and Battery charger for 34.5kV and 13.8kV system,
- 48V Battery and Battery chargers.
- Civil and Steel structural works.
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system of the PEB and E-houses.
- Sanitary, plumbing and water supply system.
- Fiber optic communication system (voice and data, protection signalling).
- Fire detection and alarm system (FDA).
- Fire fighting system by clean agent gas based system and portable extinguishers.
- Misc. EHV, MV, LV and Instrument cabling.
- Cabling related to SCADA and Fiber optic communication system.
- Emergency DG set for power supply to essential loads if normal power supply fails.
Designs shall comply with American standards and IEC, Eurocode as applicable.
Salient Points :
a. The 345kV Switchgear shall be GIS.
b. The 345kV Switchgear shall be of single bus.
c. 345kV and 13.8kV GIS shall be housed in a structural PEB.
d. 180MVA Transformers will be connected with EHV and MV Switchgears by cables. However, for 90MVA Transformers, the MV side shall be connected to 13.8kV Switchgear by bus duct.
e. From the 345kV GIS building, the cables shall be routed as straight as possible to the Transformers.
f. The MV Switchgear will be mounted in a separate e-houses.
g. The control, relay and SCADA panels shall be housed in a separate e-house adjacent to the GIS PEB or shall be integrated with the GIS PEB.
h. Transformer Oil collection pit shall be Pre-engineered type.
i. Transformer fire protection will be by Nitrogen injection fire protection system. Separate high velocity water spray system is not required for Transformers.
j. Satcon shall quote for procurement assistance and approval of vendor (shop) drawings in addition Design and Engineering of the substation.
k. Fire protection of the Switchgear and Relay rooms will be by clean agent, cylinders being installed in a separate e-house. However, the application of type of chemical agent is subject to US stipulations.
l. There is no constraint of space for the installation of the Substation. Hence too much compact design of the substation is not necessary.
